Scams
How can you know a scam from a legitimate diet?
If you don’t you could waste a great deal of effort, time and money!
Read This to Avoid Being Scammed!
We, in the United States, are averaging $177 a year, per person on weight loss. That’s only the average, those who struggle with their weight, spend far more than that. They spend upwards of $1000 a year. Here at The Diet Clearing House our aim is to show you how you can shed unwanted pounds, spend less on diets, and have more for the things you enjoy. You have the power to change your life! You can achieve the results you want for a lot less money…who needs financial strain on top of trying to lose weight? Many diet companies are in it for the money, period. We, on the other hand, want to offer honest products for honest prices. With that thought in mind, we are going to reveal which diets are worth the money and which to avoid.
Expensive Pre-Packaged Food Diets
The point of a weight loss program should be to help you effectively lose weight; not money. A good paid diet plan should have a one time cost with any extras kept to a minimum. Paying a small one time payment for a good service is fair, but you should never have to sign on for automatic payments or on going expenses. Some diet companies are just out to make the big bucks, like Jenny Craig, and Nutrisystem. I have tried Jenny Craig and though it works their pre-packaged food is expensive. All of these company’s diets are based around their pre-packaged foods. You may face start up fees of around $300 and the food will run around $70/week. Cha-ching! $580 for just the first month.
These companies work on the continuation principle. Once you sign up, you are billed each month, even if you stop using the service. You have to go through a cancellation process or it keeps on cranking money out of your credit card.
You’ve seen these headlines splashed across the covers of supermarket tabloids.
-
“Lose 10lbs in a week”
-
“Lose 5 inches in 5 days”
-
“Look like your favorite star if you drink this formula”
Even though these diets may help you to lose weight it may not be healthy. There are different ways the body has for losing weight. You could be losing fluid and/or lean muscle mass instead of fat. You could also be screwing up your metabolism. In short these diets are unhealthy, unsustainable, and could be dangerous to your health. I once used one of these diets to lose 10 pounds in one week. Guess what? I gained 4 pounds of it back at the wedding I attended the day after I finished the diet.
-
Hollywood Diet (juice with vitamins!)
-
Grapefruit Diet (eating grapefruits all day!)
-
Cookie Diet (there is no such thing as healthy cookies!)
-
Hot Dog Diet (are they out of their minds!)
We would like you to leave these diets in the tabloids at the supermarket where they belong. Most stars do not use or need these diets, they can afford private cooks, nutritionists, and trainers–don’t be fooled.
Magic Diet Pills
These companies definitely do not care about your success. They want your money! These pills are often just diuretics–drugs that force your body to increase its urine output–and so you lose pounds in fluids, but the unhealthy fat is still there.
Some of these pills are just appetite suppressants and stimulants that enable you to starve yourself with out feeling it. This causes, among other things, the body to cannibalize its muscle tissue for energy. You are losing pounds of lean muscle tissue instead of fat! In the end, your metabolism is slowed down, and since you have less lean muscle tissue you’re in worse shape than when you started. When you gain the weight back, and you will, it will be twice as hard to get rid of.
Natural weight loss pills are merely the same as the ones mentioned above except their drugs come from natural sources such as guarana and ginseng. Pills are very expensive and those that come with a diet plan you could throw away and still lose the weight by just following the plan.
Secret Ab Equipment
Until you change how you eat, all of the ab equipment in the world won’t help you. Body builders will tell you that doing strenuous ab exercises with out proper nutrition will make your abs look worse. A firm six-pack under 4 inches of belly fat only causes the fat to stand out more. Most body builders will also tell you that the number one exercise for building great abs is crunches. You can build great abs by proper nutrition and exercising on your own living room floor.
