For Starters Eat More
Yes, you read that right. The way to a permanent, healthy weight is to change your relationship with food and you can start by adding to your diet. Don’t get in a panic mode about all the things you will need to give up because we are not going to give up anything at first. The most important organ in the body for fitness is your brain because it is the controller of the body. So you need to think your way through this process so don’t even think about giving up any food for right now.
What you want to do is eat more! Yes, and you must use your brain to make this a daily habit. Just adding these things to your diet now and then will not help you at all and remember you are committed to this process. The first thing you want to add to your diet is fruit and vegetables. Use your brain to find the ones you like the best (or hate the least) and make sure you include both fruit and vegetables. A note about the vegetables, they should be leafy green ones like spinach, Kayle, broccoli etc. I can see you shuddering right now. Look, all you have to do is make sure you eat at least two servings of these a day—hold your nose if you have to and wash them down with your water. In the end you want to eat at least 5 servings of fresh fruits and leafy green vegetables.
The Two Fat Fighting Warriors
OK, as promised I will now reveal the secret fat fighting warriors. Water is number 1. Make it a habit to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Come on now, it ain’t that bad. Alright, if you have too, you can add some crystal light to some of the water, but this is not optimum! Pure water will put you over the top. Fiber is number 2. Make sure you eat at least 30 grams of fiber per day. Actually, more like 50 would be better. Some of this fiber you will get in your fruit and vegetables, but you will need to research fiber rich foods to make sure you get the rest. As a last resort and I mean a last resort purchase powdered fiber to add to your food. And try not to eat the processed fiber bars and such. The closer your food is to nature the better.
